Location: The Recuenco

The Recuenco is located in a hollow surrounded by high hills, forming the border between the Cuenca mountain range, the Alcarria and the Alto Tajo.
On one of these hills at 1250m is located the Nuestra Señora de la Bienvenida HermitageThe views of the extensive forests that surround the town can be enjoyed from here.
In its recent history, the most relevant are its significant glassworks which served products to the whole of Spain from the 16th to the 20th century.
The municipality is very rich in springs and fountains, in fact, it is the source of the river Alcantud which flows into the river Guadiela, previously irrigating a fertile fertile plain where in recent decades the cultivation of wicker has been replacing family gardens.
