Interpretation Centre "Dehesa de Corduente".

The Interpretation Centre is located in the facilities of the La Dehesa Recreational Area and was inaugurated in June 2006. It is part of the network of facilities for public use in the Upper Tagus Natural Park. Its main mission is to bring the public closer to the rich natural and cultural heritage of this protected area, disseminating and interpreting the main values of the Park.

It is a centre of architecture avant-gardeThe main materials used are laminated wood, glass and bevelled limestone, seeking to integrate with the surrounding wooded environment. The building has two floors. The exterior of the centre has a garden area, next to which there is a recreational area equipped with tables, benches and a children's play area.

The theme of the contents The centre's role is a general one, as it is the reference centre for the Park. these have been designed to fulfil a triple function: firstly, the interpretation and dissemination of the natural characteristics and values, as well as the ecological processes that take place there. Secondly, the information to the visitor about the services and resources offered by the Park. Thirdly, to allow for the development of activities environmental education activities aimed at schoolchildren and other groups.

On the first floor, the tour begins in the space dedicated to the water courses and aquatic environments, with interpretative panels, a model of karst modelling, a model of the cut of a river canyon, etc. The next room is dedicated to the forests and to the flora with interpretive panels and exhibitors. The third area is dedicated to open spaces, with interpretative panels. The tour on this floor ends in the audiovisual roomwhere a video about the Upper Tagus is projected.

On the ground floor, the visit continues in the space dedicated to the geologyending with a space whose theme is the traditional uses and the historical-artistic heritage of the Natural Park.

We must not forget that from here we can approach with the official route from the park to Barranco de la HozIt also has a large car park and a large recreational area with tables and benches, a fountain and games for children. Don't hesitate to visit it because it is a perfect place to relax and learn.
