Motorbike pit

The Motorbike pit is a funnel-shaped doline with gentle slopes, formed mainly by deposits of limestone and marl of Jurassic origin.

The dolines, called here lattices or dimplesThey are open depressions in the ground, with a rounded crater-like shape, which surprise visitors with their great size and depth. They are formed by the dissolution or karstification of the carbonate rocks of the extensive flattened areas that make up the limestone paramera, also known as the fundamental erosion surface.

The relative flatness of the moorland, without an organised hydrographic network, the dense fracturing of the subsoil rocks, the high altitude (1,500-1,600 m) and a cool, humid mountain climate favoured the development of the karstification processes that led to the formation of dolines.

There are several types of sinkholes in these fields, although the most important ones are the ones in the form of a funnel and form of pit or chasm.

Another feature worth highlighting is the abundance of fossilised marine fauna, which testifies to the fact that this area, millions of years ago, was the bottom of a warm sea.

El Hoyón, located to the northeast of the municipality of Motos, is part of the group of caves and pits of Villar del Cobo, Bronchales and the plains of Pozondón form part of the most important doline fields of the Sierra de Albarracín, This is one of the few dolines in the province of Guadalajara in this network.
