Hoyón de Ródenas

El Hoyón de Rodenas is located between Ródenas and Pozondón on the Alto de la Casilla at 1458 metres above sea level (near the Ermita de los Santos de la Piedra), outside the Natural Park of the Alto Tajoand in the neighbouring province of Teruel.

This depression is a formidable funnel-shaped sinkhole 150 metres in diameter and 50 metres deep, with steep walls where chaparras and kermes oaks grow. It normally originates from a sinkhole, a point where a surface current seeps into the earth in limestone soil causing it to dissolve.

An original geological formation, and a magnificent route through the Hoyón de Ródenas to do on foot or by bicycle. Don't miss the Ermita de los Tres Santos Hermitage and Viewpoint, and the Aljibe de El Hoyón, both very close by. The viewpoint has spectacular views
