La Torreta Hut

The Torreta mountain hut is located in the middle of the Serrezuela de Valsalobre already in the province of Cuenca and classified as a Natural Monument.

It is not uncommon to see speleologists in the area exploring nearby, as we are in the place in Spain with the highest concentration of chasms, many of them still unexplored.

It is a free refuge surrounded by an extensive pine forest, located at the foot of a turret for surveillance and fire prevention, so it is worth remembering that when we explore areas like these, with a high density of vegetation, we should avoid, as far as possible, lighting any kind of fire.

To access this refuge, we can take the path located in the vicinity of the PK 11 of the CM-2101The route continues along the track that joins the villages of Peñalén and Villanueva de Alcorón. We will have to continue along the track until we come to a turning to the right that takes us into a dense pine forest until we reach the refuge itself. The turret is a good point of reference to locate us.
