Vado de Salmerón Recreational Area

The Vado de Salmerón recreational area is located on the track that runs alongside the Tagus River, nearer the entrance to the Puente de San Pedro, and belongs to the municipality of Zaorejas

<< How to get there?

To access this area, we have to take into account that the Tajo track has only two accesses, one at the height of the St. Peter's Bridgein the municipality of Zaorejas, and another one near the Bridge of Poveda de la Sierra. Whether we take the track on one side or the other, we can only continue straight on until we reach our destination, while we admire the countless landscapes that are shown to us on our way. Once we have glimpsed the area, we will find a small esplanade where we can park our 3 or 4-seater vehicle.

<< Equipment

In this area there is a picnic area with several picnic tables inside an enclosure enclosed by a wooden fence where you can take a pleasant break or spend an afternoon enjoying the river and its landscapes. In this area you will also find informative signs and a refuge where hikers can spend the night if they are on a crossing, doing the GR 113 Camino Natural del Tajo, or any of the long-distance footpaths.

In terms of sourcesThe source of the OutlineYou will not find it in the recreational area of Vado de Salmerón, it will appear as you go along the track towards Poveda de la Sierra on the right hand side, its waters will refresh you at any time of the year.

<< What to see?

As we mentioned before, the access to this recreational area deserves special attention due to its location and beauty. In the vicinity we will find numerous landscapes, springs, bathing areas and hiking trails or old paths that forded the river to bridge the greatest possible distance between neighbouring villages, along which traders and shepherds used to travel. It is also worth mentioning that this stretch of the river is an ideal place for water activities such as canoeing. You can launch yourself into the water from here or make a mid-morning stop to recharge your batteries before continuing downstream to the Falaguera fountain.

In short, rocky escarpments full of birds of prey, extensive forests full of life, deer that will startle you along the way, clean and clear water, walks or long routes, in the vicinity of this place, we will find fun for everyone, young and old. Enjoy it and be responsible.

Lastly, we would like to point out that there is no rubbish collection service, so we will have to take the rubbish we generate with us, there have been a lot of us lately and we have to respect these places as much as possible. We can always dispose of the rubbish in the surrounding municipalities.
