Bocanegra Spring

The Surgencia de Bocanegra or Ojal Morena, as it is also known, it is located on the right bank of the Arroyo de la Hoz as it passes through the turnoff on the road linking the Peñalén with Poveda de la Sierra (Guadalajara), being visible from the road.

This is a small intermittent spring, which drains large volumes of water after heavy rainfall, its catchment area being to the south of the Avellano ravine. It is worth noting the significant variations in the level of its siphons at the slightest downpour.

Usually, if we drive past, we will not see anything, but if we choose a day after a series of heavy rainfalls, which allow the karst If it fills up, we will be able to see a small "blowout" that forms a beautiful waterfall easily visible from the road.

To see this beautiful spring, the easiest way is to go to the area around Poveda de la Sierra, In particular, we have to park in the small area around the crossroads with the road to Peñalén. Just in front of this crossroads we will see, or not, the spring.
