This viewpoint is considered to be one of the most spectacular of the park and the province of
Guadalajara. The aerial view of the La Hoz Ravine with the hermitage and hostelry at their feet and the river Rooster The peaceful flowing waterways make this place a sublime spot. Likewise, the intense reddish colour of the sandstones and conglomerates and the numerous towers and crests acquire a special dimension when observed from this privileged viewpoint.

In reality, it is from the highest of a series of three lookouts These can be reached from the hermitage via a winding path carved with steps on the rock itself. The two intermediate viewpoints provide interesting views of the canyon and the upper one, a more general view, so it is advisable to visit them all. While the upper viewpoint has a panel that helps to identify birds, the two intermediate ones offer geological information corresponding to Geo-Route 5.

In addition, and although the pines (Pinus pinaster) predominate on the slopes as they are able to grow by sinking their roots into the rocks of the ravine, the river Gallo is flanked by a beautiful riverside forest. In autumn, this gallery forest acquires a multitude of tones, creating a postcard worthy of being photographed. At the end of the day, the artificial lights that illuminate the rocks make the panoramic takes on a different appearance.

There is no doubt that the viewpoint of Barranco de la Hoz is one of those places where you can enjoy unbeatable views. It is well worth a visit, either on the route that runs through it or simply by ascending this section of the ravine, with a little effort.

It is also a perfect place to watch griffon vultures and Egyptian vultures gliding along the streams that form against the rocks of the canyon.

<< How to get there?

We can access this viewpoint from the top or from the bottom. To access it from the top, we need to make the Barranco de la Hoz route official of the park which departs from the car park of the Dehesa de Corduente Interpretation Centre. If we want to go from bottom to top of the ravine, we will park our vehicle in the car park located at the foot of the ravine. Sanctuary and from here we will ascend the staircase that we will find carved into the rock.
