Peñalen Bridge

Approximately six kilometres from the town of Peñalénin the immediate vicinity of the Tagus and Cabrillas riversand in an area of rows of spectacular stone knives split by the Tagus River and the path that leads us here, we find the beautiful Peñalén bridge.

Some believe that it is a medieval bridge, but the truth is that it was built in the Middle Ages. built in 1943The bridge is narrow and not intended for motor vehicle traffic. The bridge is narrow and is not intended for motor vehicle traffic, but rather for the transit of people and animals, who then followed their way along narrow paths winding between the steep cliffs and gorges that lead to Molina de Aragón and other closer localities.

This construction, also known as the Uncle Lucas BridgeThe name of the "builder", so to speak, was a resident of Beteta with a fairly advanced mind for his time. It is made of stone masonry from the mid-20th century, formed by two large arches that connect the two banks of the Tagus River. It stands out for its beautiful surroundings where it stands, in the middle of the Tagus river canyon, with its abrupt formations.

In the pools that form under the bridge, it is possible to dive with one of the authorised companies and also right next to it is a sport climbing route called the "Araucano".
